CITIC Group, formerly the China International Trust Investment Corporation (CITIC), is a state-owned investment company, established in 1979 with the approval of Deng Xiaoping, the brainchild behind China's Open Door Policy which flushed the country with foreign investment and set into motion the economic transformation of modern China. As of 2019, it is China's biggest state-run conglomerate with one of the largest pools of foreign assets in the world

However, like with many other powerful and influential organizations, the leaders of CITIC became corrupted over time. - 29 June 2023 Bolivia has signed lithium agreements with Russian state nuclear firm Rosatom and CITIC's Guoan Group. Bolivia's iconic salt flats are home to the world's largest lithium resources. Citic Guoan would invest $857 million and would also "look at investing in battery plants and the installation, possibly with technical studies, of a vehicle assembly plant, to create a true electric transport revolution."

- 4 July 2023 China's central bank is boosting its monetary policy tools to stimulate the vitality of private, micro and small enterprises, as well as the agriculture sector, lending more steam to the recovery of the economy's intrinsic driving force.
