Idemia specializes in biometric identification, security, as well as secure payments. Not only does it provide identity-related security services, but also sells facial recognition and other biometric identification products and software to private companies and governments around the world. This Russian code was knowingly incorporated into Morpho's product back then to improve its performance. (According to sources, the code was acquired secretly, and the company deliberately hid this fact from the FBI.). Litigation lasted for several years, but the US Court of Appeals dismissed it in May 2019. What this really demonstrates is that the executives at Morpho/Idemia worked with the Russians and high ranking officials inside the US government to secretively integrate superior Russian technology the old-fashioned way, because RedHat's ability to push technology upgrades was not available back then
